Hello-
I will be moving from Texas to Sacramento soon. We have four kids so top schools are a big priority. My husband will be working in Natomas. We would like a less than 45 minute commute for him. We have a budget of $1,000,000. Thanks so much for your help!

Default Perfect Areas

With your budget you can live in the best places in Sacramento. Places I think are the best to live in are Fair Oaks, Pavillions Area, maybe some other areas around CSUS? Not sure about that though. But if you're looking for more surburban for the kids then I guess maybe Roseville or the newer better areas of Folsom, Rocklin

With a budget of 1M, would you like to put your kids in private school? And with a budget of 1M, I guess you can choose what ever kind of home you like (GOSH, I can just imagine the house you had in Texas!! Homes are cheap there in comparison)

45 minute or less commute - I vote for Fair Oaks(I also live here), East Sacramento(fab 40's), Carmichael/Arden area... Great Public Schools.. Elementary: Del Dayo, Deterding. Middle: Carnegie, Churchill, Arcade, Arden. High Schools: Bellas Vista, Rio Americano, Mira Loma, El Camino.

No kidding - if I had 1 M I'd be living in Fab Forties - but maybe you'd like a suburb kind of lifestyle? Granite Bay or El Dorado Hills?

indeed...with $1M I'd snatch up the old Joan Didion mansion on 22nd and T in Poverty Ridge. Four bedrooms not counting the servants' quarters in the attic, two main parlors, formal dining room, library, full basement, everything pretty much intact 1900-1910 era finished wood interiors with Craftsman detail on everything...*drool* whoop, sorry.

Hmm, I wonder if it's still on the market?

If I had a budget of $1 M, I'd buy a time machine and live IN the Fab 40's.

Default Thanks!

Thanks so much for all of your replies! I visited a few weeks ago and looked in Eldorado Hills. Unfortunately, I read a lot of blogs that were very negative about the area and the Serrano HOA. I hate my present HOA so I am not so sure. Plus, what is the deal with all of those warnings regarding rattlesnakes?

I would look at Granite Bay. Generally less of an HOA issue than El Dorado Hills, and you don't have to be concerned about the asbestos.
