Hello everyone! I have heard a few people say that they go walking or running on a trail, and there is a river by the trail also. Can someone tell me exactly where this place is in Sacramento? I currently live in Carmichael, would this place be close to me or is it much farther? Thanx for any info that can help!

Wow, you live in Carmichael and you don't know where or how to access the American River Bike Trail, aka the Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail?

Here is information on it:
Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sacramento Area Bike Trails (http://www.saccycle.com/bikewaymaps/map6.htm - broken link)

The parking lots that provide direct access to the trail require you to pay (with the exception of the Nimbus Fish Hatchery parking lot), others, like Bannister Park, provide you with free parking but require you to take a side trail to get to the main bike path. Good luck and have fun, the bike trail is one of the best things going in Sacramento.

Google maps says its a little over 5 miles via surface streets, I'm guessing its a little shorter by using the bike path.
