Hello, My husband and I are moving to Utah for 7 - 12 months (March 2011). We currently live north of Boston. Mt husband is going to be working at Dugway (he is not military). We love new places and new adventures so we view our temporary move as a good thing. We have no children but do have 2 dogs (and one is a huge but very likeable and friendly Great Dane). Both of our dogs are wellbehaved and socialized. We would love to rent a small home outside of SLC to make my husband's easier. I have been searching the net looking for house rentals but just keep finding apartments. Can anyone offer advice as to how I can locate homes (or even a condo) for rent? FYI: we are nice professionals in our late 40's who get along well with others. We have been married 25 years and have moved many times so we adapt easily to most situations. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Your best bet would be to look in Tooele County. Dugway is quite a commute from Tooele, let alone Salt Lake.
Two good places to check would be the classified listings on KSL.com and the local Tooele paper

You might look at Stansbury Park and Eagle Mountain. Both of those are newer communities. Stansbury Park was originally a master planned community so it seems to me that it might have more condominiums and small homes than Eagle Mountain. The tendency in Eagle Mountain was to build big McMansion style homes. The commute to Dugway from Stansbury Park would be just a few minutes (like maybe 10 min.?) longer than the commute from Tooele to Dugway and honestly I think Stansbury would be a much more pleasant place to live than Tooele. (By the way, Tooele is pronounced "Too ILL uh").

(I live in Stansbury Park) It isn't a small home (not large either, just an average size home) and I don't know if they will allow pets, although they do have one of their own so the yard is fenced already. what kind of a community is it that you live in? I am looking to relocate to Utah from Portland Or. My boyfriend's job is based out of Salt Lake and would like to be somewhere close for him to be able to come home when he is in town from trucking. I go to school at Steven's Henagar college so it would be nice to be close enough to drive to campus. Any suggestions on housing?

I live in a very nice master planned community. It is located approx 30 miles west of Salt Lake. Stansbury Park is a pretty surburban area, but Tooele is located only 10 minutes way to take care of most grocery shopping needs. Stansbury is also in the process of building a new grocery store. For more shopping options, many people do the short drive to Salt Lake. Who does your bf drive for? My DH is also a truck driver, although he is a local driver. I am not sure where Steven Henagar's campus is located, but Stansbury is a very easy commute to most anyplace in the SL Valley.
