My wife, myself and 1yr old daughter are moving from WA to the SLC area. My job is relocating me to Draper, UT. We just took a trip last week for 3 days and really liked the whole Salt Lake County area. We are not LDS, but are Christian and the denomination that would be similar to us would be Southern Baptist or PCA, and we saw there are a couple of churches in Riverton and Draper that would fit our needs. Our theology is reformed, so if there are any other churches out there that we may have missed?

We are looking to find an area with more diversity and people that have transplanted to the area. We spoke with several home builders and it seems like the West Jordan, South Jordan, Harriman area would be more to our liking than any of the other cities, is this correct or are there other areas?

Is there MOPS in the different cities for my wife and daughter?
Is there a grocery store that carries local and organic produce?
Is Daybreak community worth the price of the homes?

Harmon's is a locally owned chain of groceries. They focus on locally grown food and also have some organic stuff, but Whole Foods has more organic choices. Some will tell you that Harmon's is expensive but I love the quality of their produce and meats - very high!

Don't know what MOPS is, some sort of mothers thing?

I personally don't like Daybreak as there are no fences.

Hi Mikester23!

I just moved to Daybreak about 3 weeks ago and love it! If you rent or purchase a home the homes do have fences. Depends on where you look

I found another store that carries a good variety of organic food, 'Good Earth Natural Foods'. They have several stores and I frequent the one in Sandy which is not too far from Daybreak.

Super Target carries some organic produce and meats that are good. In June the Farmers Market will be open in SLC which is supposed to be fantastic! Bountiful Baskets has local produce and they deliver to Daybreak.

Best of Luck!
This has been the best move I have ever made! Utah is amazing!!

Thanks for the update on fences. I was out there not long after it opened and there were no fences. Then I read somewhere that the concept was open space so no fences would be allowed.

I forgot about Sunflower Markets, they are as good as Whole Foods but cheaper and less trendy. I go to the downtown one but I don't know where else in the valley they have stores.

The Farmer,s Market is great, they have local crafts and food booths as well as the farmers. There is also a smaller Sugar House farmer's market on Friday nights, once they start. I think I have read about some otherfrmer's markets around town but you would have to look in the paper. It's also fun to drive up to some of the northern towns in the summer/fall to get roadside produce, like in Fruita.

Thanks SouthernBelle! I can't wait to try out the Farmer's Market!!

Yes the homes all around the walking paths in Daybreak have fences! Some still do not but a lot do! I will have to look up the Sugar House farmer's market. I finally went yesterday to check out the area and I loved it! Plan to go on Saturday for the day!

I shop at Sunflower Market in Murray--just west of Fashion Place Mall.
