We both are in the medical field and can find work anywhere. We would like to start looking at some "neighborhoods"
that could potentially work for us, here is what we are looking for in a community/neighborhood:

500-600k
2000-3000 sq ft
New(ish) homes and neighborhood
Possible large master planned community
Good Gymnastics, Soccer programs for our 8 year old
Easy access to running and hiking trails( I assume many hoods fit this criteria)
We are non LDS, but we love and respect all people and their beliefs.

Thank you for your help
IMO you will likely want to visit this area and get a job offer before relocating. Once you know where your employment is we can provide a more appropriate recommendation.

Since you're in the medical field the primary healthcare provider/employers in the area are:

The U
IHC
Mountain Star

We also have a # of medical device companies in the area as well.

I live in Cottonwood Heights and I highly doubt you could find a newer home here for 500-600K. Older, yes. Like pre 1990, mfor sure pre 1980. But most of CH was built a while ago, and what pockets there are left that they are building on are going for pretty high prices with very tiny lots. Also many built on/in/near questionable land. Or, you might find something from maaaaybe 1990s but all original...which, sadly, is pretty outdated at this point. Walking/biking paths are spotty and while people are out there cycling it isn't really safe on the roads here for cyclists or peds. There are certainly some communities and pockets around..I'm just telling you my experience with the CH area.

The market here has gone really crazy and honestly it's WAY overpriced. Not a good time to buy and inventory is very limited.

I think you would have to go out much farther into the burbs to get a newer home in that range...maybe Draper, Riverton, South Jordan, or up to Bountiful. And, once you do that, you are really even farther into the heart of LDS-land so unless you are a very involved member of another church, or have friends or family already here, etc., it may not be as easy as it seems to feel a part of the community.

Isn't Daybreak built on a 'remediated' superfund site?
