Does anyone here live in Ogden (or the south side of Ogden) and work in Salt Lake City (downtown)? Or would that be just an insanely long commute to even consider? I have a rough idea from Mapquest, but it doesn’t really factor in rush hour traffic.

Does the FrontRunner train make it a faster, more feasible commute?

My wife and I are considering a move, but one of us would work in Ogden and the other would most likely work in SLC. We’d prefer to live downtown Ogden, but I’m wondering if it’s too far away from a SLC job.

Is there a good in-between town, like Farmington? Is Clearfield too far? Does anyone know what the commute would be like (time-wise) from towns in these areas? And, as a side question, do any of these towns have cool little downtown areas (with restaurants and bars), or are they mostly just neighborhoods?

I really appreciate any info you can provide!

A couple of dozen people where I work (in Salt Lake) live in Ogden. It's a large company, but one department used to be located in Ogden and moved a year and a half ago to Salt Lake. For a lot of the people living in Ogden, FrontRunner is an excellent option. Personally, I'd prefer to live in one of the numerous towns in between Salt Lake and Ogden. Most of those places don't have a whole lot going in terms of nightlife, but if you were to pick Farmington, for instance, you could get to either Salt Lake or Ogden in no time.

My suggestion would be to move to Davis County. If you can afford the real estate prices its excellent for people who work in either Salt Lake or Ogden. Since they finished the I-15 construction, I've not had serious problems commuting.

Agree. I am about half-way and it is a reasonable drive to either city. Rush hour will take longer. What I would be considering is how far from I15 you will be...the roads going E/W will have heavy traffic in rush hour and if you don't live close, getting to the hwy or frontrunner will eat up as much time as your N/S travel.

BTW, I LOVE where I live.
