Go to Wendy's and get a frosty if your craving chocolate. If you must, take it home and put it in a cone....

If you're ever out in Kerrville, go to Salada's. It's a locally-owned version of Jason's Deli. They offer free cobbler and soy-based soft-serve ice cream with their soup/salad/bread buffet. Tastes better than Jason's Deli and SouperSalad's soft-serve. Can't recall if they offer the twist, though.

Totally not the same! Frosties are colder, and have a texture more like ground up ice cubes. You can SEE the texture's granules! Original Chocolate Frosty - Wendy's

I've long been suspicious that the stuff in Jason's soft serve machines is not really ice cream. The flavor in it is bolder than ice cream and the texture is different. It does come come out of the machine as twist, though.

Indeed it's very strange that most of the ice cream places here don't have twists. I have been to DQ, Wendy's, Sonics, MickeyD's, Freddy's ...and no luck... http://www.flipndip.com/images/103_0696.jpg (broken link)

if you make your way down to victoria texas, dairy treat by far has some of the best ice cream (and milkshakes that i haven't found a better one out there). and they have twists i believe.

good ol' mom and pop restaurant.

Go to Culvers. It's not quite soft serve, it's custard, like Freddies, but let me tell you. Once you have it, you WILL crave it. It started in Wisconsin, and I gained way too many pounds in my time in Wisconsin (and other states where they are located) from eating there.
