Due to all the debris caused by Tropical Storm Hermine, the City of San Antonio is opening a temporary collection site and extending hours at the Bitters brush site.

The very busy collection site at 1800 Bitters Road will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. beginning Thursday through Saturday September 19.

In order to use the site you must have identification. Be sure to take your photo ID and current CPS Energy bill. A second temporary brush site is being set up at the city's storage yard located at 466 Culberson.

Should people using this service be warned that if the brush is not tarped, that they can be charged a fee?,...or is that waived cause of the storm?

What on earth does that mean "The brush needs to be tarped"? It should be covered in a tarp, or what? Why can't we just bring tree trunks we cut up at home and dump them over there so they can sell it for sawdust and stuff?

the city dump policy is the same way, they have free days and if it's not covered, you will pay.

which BTW is a pretty stupid fricken rule...for pete's sake I am going to be taking off the tarp to dump it. I could stop a block from the dump and put a tarp over it.

Please, please use a tarp when moving from Point A to Point B (the collection site)! Too many tree branches out in the freeways that may be a hazard to other drivers.
