OOOOOHHH Let me know how it is! Feel free to DM me with your review! I saw the trailer and I really would love to see this movie but alas I have to wait for Red Box or Net Flix. It seems Red Box and Net Flix gets all the movies that comes out in limited release. The movie has really peaked my curiosity as I had a roomie as a ballerina once and the stories she told me were quite shocking.

LOL. When you put it in quotes like that, it reminds me of a Little Britain character Daffyd Thomas... I don't know why, but it does.

On a related note, I was having dinner tonight @ the bar of Union Square Cafe with several people including winery owners from Walla Walla. They were knowledgeable on many fronts and a joy to chat with. They had seen both Black Swan and the King's Voice today and loved both, but preferred the latter. I guess now I need to see 2 movies instead of 1. Unless King's Voice is, "Too risqué for this ultra conservative city".

Free tickets and discussion, how delightful. Could it get a few of the rather average people in town whose whole idea of culture comes from mainstream television to go watch the film? I would love to read their reviews if they are up to writing them.

Spoiler
As long as they use spoiler tags.

Who knows, maybe a few more in this town will also come to appreciate literary adaptations and even foreign movies with subtitles?

One movie I wanted to be played here never was; The Stoning of Soraya M. I had to purchase the DVD online a year later and the movie was also passed up by The Academy. The film is based on a true story and displays the serious issue of women's rights. Yes, it's a foreign film with subtitles. It's also very disturbing but realistic.

Just in case of any confusion the midnight showings of Black Swan are not for Friday but for tonight. A total of six local theaters will have midnight viewings.

Movie Showtimes for midnight Thursday

Friday will have showings all day long at ten different theaters. We have had advanced tickets for a few days already, so can't wait!!!

Movie Showtimes for Friday

Here is an interesting podcast on the history of ballet. I never realized it was something only the aristocracy did at first in social situations with each other, not as a show, that men were originally the main stars, not women, and standing on point was adopted into ballet from the commedia dell'arte tradition.

The Tutu's Tale: A Cultural History Of Ballet's 'Angels' : NPR

I will have to order the author's book soon, seems quite interesting.

What seems like another good movie having a limited released tomorrow, but not here, is rabbit hole.

Yeah, I'm seeing Black Swan again tomorrow at Huebner Oaks. I'm not sure how this film will sit with San Antonio movie-goers, but it's sure making a good release statement in several theaters around town.

I'm also keen on seeing Rabbit Hole: Love John Cameron Mitchell and while I didn't love Shortbus, I do think he's capable of being a spectacular director. Added, I've heard that Nicole Kidman's face actually moves in this film, so that in itself is enough to get me back to seeing her work.

Thanks for clearing that up. The online info was very confusing and limited.
Not quite sure I understand.....will there be other showings other than midnight after tomorrow?
