Do people still rent from Blockbuster? I haven't rented from them in over 5 years and have no plans to in the foreseeable future, since I have a Netflix membership.

I've read discussion in this forum of renting from Redbox kiosks, but I don't recall ever seeing anyone here mention renting from Blockbuster.

Obviously Herbrocks and I do, in fact probably at the same one when I'm in town (Austin Highway). I did netflix for a while, but I guess I like instant gratification and human interaction. Blockbuster has gotten much better with the "Gotcha" fees that they were known for.

Wow that Culebra/Tezel stretch is getting more and more desolate. First Hollywood goes, then Arby's, now (based on the list) Blockbuster.

I gave up on them when they gave me all kinds of drama over having a cellphone attached to my account (probably 5yrs ago as well). Was the last time I ever set foot in there.

The nostalgic part of me hates to see them go. I remember 20yrs ago on a Friday night the parents coming home with a stack of VHS tapes from there and a bag of Fajita Junction fajitas...

...alas the times must change. If I cant watch it on Netflix I cant wait til I can.

They needed to do that. The last time I rented from Blockbuster, the late fees were more than the cost of the rental, which is a big reason I stopped using them.

In fact, the last time I rented at Blockbuster, was when there were still two locations across the street from each other at Blanco and West Ave. IIRC, one was a franchise and the other was a company-owned store that was at least twice as big as the the other. Now there are none there.
