98.5 The Beat is the only "hip hop and r&b" station. There is a new, non-profit station as an alternative, but you need HD radio to listen to it. Don't be surprised if you turn to 98.5 and don't hear hip hop or r&b at the moment.

We have HEB/Central Market, Walmart/Sam's Club, Super Target, La Fiesta, Handy Andy, Whole Foods, Sun Harvest, Costco, and Green Fields. HEB and Walmart are the most prevalent throughout the city.

Hip hop is The Beat 98.5.

There are a slew of top 40 (pop songs): 94.1 KTFM, Mix 96.1, 97.7 The Party.

Here's a link to the SA radio stations:

Media in San Antonio, Texas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

From reading up, there used to be two other rap/hip hop stations in SA. 92.5 and Power 106.7. 92.5 is now a talk radio station and Power 106.7 is a classic rock station, X106.7.

HEB is a San Antonio based company and has a good sized monopoly on the SA market. I read SA used to have HEB, Albertsons, Krogers, Piggy Wiggley's, Handy Andy and other grocery store chains but throughout the last 20-25 years, HEB began to slowly corner the market as it grew and expanded running competitors out of town. The last chain leaving was I believe Albertsons a few years back.

super target sells groceries also. i frequent them from time to time, as sometimes they have great deals on lean meats.

hiphop? blah dude listen to some rock or dance! hiphop seems to be a dying thing in SA. most of the 'bass mobiles' i hear are either blaring a cd or rock/dance music. while i do have a sub, i dont turn it up that loud.. and its also an 8".

you should check out the central market by broadway / hildebrand. its an AWESOME heb if there ever was one!

wal marts.. blah i try and stay away from those. not only do i dislike their business practices, the dredges of SA seem to congregate there.. and thats just something id personally like to avoid.

call me snobby, i dont care . the people i interact with will tell you im anythig but snobby.. however i am pretty open, blunt and honest about my likes/dislikes :X

glad you like your new home. this town definitely has its quirks, but it also has some really cool stuff in it also.
