The online place I get my prescription reading glasses from supplies a special ruler to get the pupillary distance.

Another site I know of calculates the P.D. from a photo of your face. In my wife's case, the photo site produced the exact same measurement that the ruler does.

I have reading and regular glasses.

The last time the specialist took a lot of time measuring to get the distances right. They also made sure the frames were fitting correctly before doing the measurements.

If they got it wrong... it was on them. If I get it wrong it is on me and I have to live with it.
