San Antonio isn't getting an NFL team. Get over it people.

I am getting sick of pro sports in general. I think the best baseball game I saw was the little league a few years back. UTSA has a football team now..lets support them. Do we really need a pro team to sell beer? I love going to high school games. I know the pro's are really prestigious. Do we want Jerry Jones running our life?

I'm curious how New Orleans has an NFL and NBA team, but San Antonio is somehow "too poor" to have more than one major pro sports team. The AAA baseball team gets decent support in N.O. also. I'm from the area, and can tell you that Baton Rouge's metro can't really be included in the supporting area for New Orleans' pro teams either. The whole state passively cares about the Saints and Hornets, but everyone's more interested in college sports, so it's pretty much up to Greater New Orleans, which is VERY poor, and not as big as San Antonio for sure.

What about Green Bay? That's definitely a small market!

One of the advantages Green Bay has is it's tradition. I saw a special on HBO where it showed how thousands of fans and I mean tens of thousands get up early on Sunday and drive hours to get there. That entire state and bordering states support that team. Louisiana supports the Saints more that I think Texas would support a team here in SA. Being that Texas had two teams already, there wouldn't be much outside support at all I don't think. I think the big question in everything is how much support would it receive from Austin, but there's really no way to guarantee that support, at least not enough to spend hundreds of millions of dollars.

It will be years, if at all before SA has a legitimate shot at an NFL team. Mainly because the NFL is not going to expand really. They will put two teams in LA, before they go anywhere else.

The NFL is done expanding. The teams, schedule, division/conferences work out perfectly with 32 teams. Only chance SA has at getting a team is relocating, but it's not going to beat LA with their stadium proposals. And I keep seeing people list smaller markets than SA with a team....you have to take into account history for teams like the Packers and Saints. Something SA does not have.

Shoot the San Antonio missions have been around since the 1700's. And how can San Antonio make NFL history without a team. It can do better than N.O or green bay. Look how they support teams from other cities, Dallas and N.O. filled the Alamodome for Saints games and Dallas training camp. SA also supports the Alamo Bowl which is now one of the more popular bowl games. SA is a football crazy town.

Exactly. The city is poor, uneducated, run-down, and obese. Deal with that first.

It's not really that hard to fill a stadium eight times a year. I think SA could support an NFL team way before anything else. Still, I doubt it happens any time soon.

I think a lot of it is political jargon in regards to sa getting the NFL or any other pro franchise at that. I've always thought we'd have no problems supporting a team here. Like the above poster said, 8 home games should be gravy in such a football fanatic town. I think politics, Jerry jones, and LA are the biggest obstacles.

Green Bay has fans from all over WI and the upper midwest, and it's been around since Day 1. As for NO, they DO get support from all over LA, E TX (Houston is big enough that there is some over lapp with Texan fans), other southern states without an NFL team (MS, AL, AR).
