I'm driving to Lackland AFB from Dallas on a weekday about 5pm, and trying to figure out the best route to avoid traffic...should I take the 410 and loop around the northside, or just take 35 to 90? Google Maps says it's the same amount of time but I wanted advice on which was better to avoid jams during rush hour...thank you!!

I think it's an "either/or" situation. You should have no problems either way, traffic should be moving in the opposite direction...

i find that 90 is consistently less congested than 410, regardless of time of day. we usually take 90 whenever we can.

Would it be cheaper to fly? Southwest has a ticket for $53 right now. Then take a taxi for about 20bucks.

I work near Lackland AFB. IME, you would be going with traffic on 410 at that time of day, not against it. 90 is generally nicer especially if you get on at 35, but I have had some problems recently.

I don't generally drive through downtown during that time of day, so I don't know how bad 35 would be compared to 410.

Yeah, at 5pm...definately would be going with the traffic in that direction on 410.

410 will back up near 151, so yeah, I'd just stick with 35 until you get south of downtown and hit 90.
