im pretty sure it was re-wired when he purchased the home in early 2000, as he had stated numerous times that he added the 220v outlets for the window units at that time.

I've used Allgood Electric twice now to install new ceiling fans, replace light fixtures, and repair outdoor outlets. I found them on Angie's List and have been very pleased with them. I haven't really shopped around so I don't know how their price compares, but they do really good work.

Your slumlord was too cheap to have it done properly now your wiring is shotty. A certified electrician will do this for the right price $$$$.00. I would make my landlord pay for this or call code compliance.lol Know your rights as a tenant before you start making upgrades he may have to make sure it is up to code before you sign another contract extension. I know certified electricians who work for contractors but they won't touch it If they are held liable for previous jobs. Good Luck
