Looks like some people will have a job before Christmas

San Antonio's Northside Independent School District has announced they plan to hire 200 people next month.

On Dec. 9, the district will hold a job fair at the Northside Activity Center, at 7001 Culebra Road in the Hardin Athletic Complex, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

School officials say they are looking to hire custodians, bus drivers and assistants, food service and maintenance workers.

Yes, but the OCD (occupy city data) people will just gripe because these are not good enough. Who wants to be a bus driver when you've gone to school for 7 years and got an associates in art history???? Totally not fair.

Yes, NISD has some good benefits, that's for sure. The pay is not going to make someone rich but it sure beats McDonald's for pay. I just know how these threads usually go......people gripe about call centers, they're surely not going to approve of custodian jobs. So sad.

Oh, puhlease! I wasn't going to say anything, but these jobs are great for those without a degree considering that the unemployment rate is really only high amongst people without a college degree. The bus driver gig isn't bad for the semi-retired because the schedule is only part-time and would only allow for a second job on weekends. The other jobs are better and would still allow people to qualify for food stamps and Section 8...you know those programs that take money out of your pocket.

You got an OCD-er to complain. Are you happy?

Seriously, these jobs will help to tie over the long-term unemployed until better jobs come along. There's actually more potential at McDonald's. Work there for several years and you could be a manager making $45k a year.

Its pretty sad that our children have grown up expecting that a job will be waiting for them with their college degree...

Blue collar or any job where one gets their hands dirty or requires physical exertion is beneath the dignity of college kids...

Not MY kid.

He'll happily shovel manure, haul bricks, spread mulch, wash dishes. Just please don't ask him to spend all day interacting with the public or pretending to be a "people person"! Where are the jobs for the natural born loners? Sucks to have strong work ethic but a personality that just works best alone.

I am job hunting and would love one of these jobs, but each one has the 'minimum requirement' of relevant experience and/or experience within environments that I just do not have.

If you have a drivers license and can pass the physical, I can almost promise you they will hire you to drive a bus.
