I have observed in several locations around town that birds will congregate on certain sections of what I assume are power lines. Despite miles of such wires, the birds tend to frequent the same sections of power lines, day in and day out. Long stretches of wire will have no avian visitors. Miles of wire are unused while these setions are used consistently day after day. It has been suggested that I climb the pole and sit on the wire to see what I experience and extrapolate that knowledge to the observed birds. Is there a simpler impirical way to find out why these birds frequent only certain sections of the available power lines?

I've noticed that they like to congregate at 281/1604 in winter, maybe because of the heat given off by the car exhaust and the road rage there.

Has anyone been to the Forum on a very early morning, say between 0700-0800? I'm usually there at the Starbucks on Sunday at that time and MY GOD! It's like a meeting of the minds.

If you're familiar with the area, they stretched all the way from the Best Buy parking lot alllll the way to the Hobby Lobby. Then, squadron by squadron, they depart. It's creepy.

If you notice, they seem to be at "fast food corner" lines....maybe the heat/smell is the draw....but there are certain corners that resemble something from an Alfred Hitchcock movie in the morning/evening...and to the best of my knowledge all are fast food intersections....
