I once read somewhere that it was possible to rent and ride bikes between the old Spanish missions... I cannot find the information again. We are a family from Houston, and we thought it would be a fun weekend trip to try. Does anyone know what I am talking about?

I don't know if this is the same one but this is the one I have bookmarked on my laptop. I did the Pearl/Brackenridge when friends came it. It was fun.

There are a couple (at least) Bike rental spots in Hemisfair Plaza. One is on Alamo just North of Durango Blvd. There are no rentals far as I know near the missions. I do see rented bikes at the missions though. Sorry for the picture quality it was a drive by..

The Blue Star Bicycle Co has bikes for rent. They've got a bunch of electra townies to rent, which are really comfy to ride.

Well they're not really very near to any missions but sort of in between....

Blue Star Bicycling Company in San Antonio Texas (http://www.bluestarbrewing.com/bikes/ - broken link)

Located between the river bridge and Probandt on S.Alamo. Either in or near the old Quality Discount Furniture Bldg and old RR warehouses.

Blue Star is a great place to rent bikes to start the Mission Trail. Unfortunately, for now, the Mission Trail stops at Mission road before Mission San Jose. It used to go all the way to Mission Espada, but they're working on it now for the new Mission Reach of the riverwalk. It's still a lovely ride, but the trail isn't open all the way. That said, you CAN ride along the road all the way to Mission Espada, and it's a reasonable ride, but if you have kids with you may not want to ride along the street.

I didn't rent, but it is quite easy to bike along the Mission Trail...

And there are several places to rent bikes from.

Have fun!

Cheers! M2
