One of the things I'm missing about Charleston is a little dive blues bar (well, two actually - one downtown and one on Folly Beach) that was a real hole with unfinished concrete floors, but some of the best blues guitarists I've ever heard used to come through.

Is there good blues in SA, or must I go to Austin for that? Someone mentioned once that Sam's Burger Joint has blues sometimes. Tis true? Suggestions?

Also check out the Rolling Oaks Sports Bar & Grill. They've got Texas Blues there a lot.

Rolling Oaks has Jimmy Spacek on one Friday a month I believe. He will often have other local talent sitting in also. It's outside so it will stop when the weather gets cold.

They'll move it inside when it gets cold. Or they'll pull out those big kerosene heaters for the deck, which work pretty well.

Aside from Spacek, they bring in a lot of great acts (Malford Milligan, Monte Montgomery, Ruben V, etc.)

They've done an awesome job of becoming one of SA's best live music venues.

I haven't been there in a while....but Swigs on the upper level of the River Walk used to have good live music.....and great drinks. Fun upscale crowd....lively and fun.

I noticed that your link no longer is working. Can you provide another one?
