Hello,

The wife and I recently moved to San Antonio 2 months ago. We have had our heart set on buying a home in or near Stone Oak. Unfortunately, my wife will most likely be working at Lackland within the next few months, which gives her a good drive every morning. What is a neighborhood with good school ratings and less traffic that is between Stone Oak and LackLand? Which area is more comparable to Stone Oak? We might have to sell or rent within the next 4-5 years, so we are looking for homes that will have value down the road as well.

I know its a complex question but thank you for the help.

Thanks for your help, team.

-Anthony

My husband makes the drive from Canyon Springs every day to Lackland. He would not change that to live closer. We enjoy the Stone Oak area. Depending on the work hours if you can flex them to go in early and leave early you can beat some of the traffic.

Maybe the UTSA area? Around Shavano Park but not specifically Shavano Park, the area around it. It could be about a 35 minute drive to Lackland going down 10 to 410 (I do not reccomend taking 1604 all the way down).

Castroville's pretty but it's a little short on conveniences like grocery stores.

It has grocery stores - and there will be more coming. There is some renewed building activity out that way.

How is that between Randolph and Lackland? It would be like living in New Braunfels and driving to Lackland.

Thanks for all of your responses. I am referring to time it takes to get to work.. Ideally neither of us want to drive over 30 minutes from work in the afternoons.. I know its not likely but I figured I would give it a shot on the forum.

Thanks in advance guys!

Castroville is a tough nut to crack in order to bring new businesses there. HEB can't even get in. There is only one grocery store there, a crappy high priced Lowes or whatever it is called. I still think of it as Super S.

As someone who grew up by Castroville, most people I knew there went to Hondo HEB/Wal-Mart or San Antonio for groceries. Dan's meat market is a local favorite although it is now packed with non-locals too.

Although it doesn't seem to fit the OP criteria, Castroville is still worth looking into.
