My wife just called me, said she's on Culebra Rd just outside of Loop 1604, heading south and trying to turn east onto 1604, but that she's been held up in traffic for over 20 min because there has been a long procession of Border Patrol vehicles, motorcycle cops, and a bunch of SUVs. Said she saw a limousine but not sure if she caught a glimpse of a hearse as well. Also several fire trucks stopped with American flags hanging down from them.

Anyone have any idea what this is all about? Did someone pass away, or is someone important in town? Very curious about why there would be so many Border Patrol vehicles.

I was at Potranco and 1604. Must have been over a hundred cars. The traffic jam they created was unbelievable.

Services set for SA Border agent killed helping driver | News - Home

Funeral arrangements have been made for a San Antonio Border Patrol agent who was killed in the line of duty.

James Dominguez, 41, was struck by a passing truck as he helped a stranded driver near Uvalde on Thursday.

An investigation is ongoing into the incident, but Border Patrol officials said it appears to have been an accident.

Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, July 24, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers in the 500 block of North Main Avenue.

A Funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 25, at 10 a.m, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints - Adams Hill Building in the 9600 block of Adams Hill.

Dominguez leaves behind a wife and four children.
May he rest in peace.

How very sad...I can tell you from first hand experience that they are wonderfully supportive when a family member is killed in the line of duty...my brothers funeral procession was more than 8 miles long....with units from as far away as Canada sent to pay respect.

It is so very meaningful to the family, I can promise you that at a time like this, it all means so very much in helping the healing process to start.

RIP to the officer, and Gods peace upon the family and friends.

Agreed, we're talking about someone who gave his life in the service of his country. I think he easily deserves the recognition and respect a procession offers.

May he rest in peace, and my deepest thanks for his sacrifice in service to his country!
