Wow, value of my house dropped by $11,000 this year. First time for me. Not sure if that is good or bad.

The value of my house went up $6,000. I will have to figure out how to appeal it, my foundation is cracked and my house is falling apart.

I don't understand how BCAD determines the values. The house next to mine is in much worse shape, yet the value of that house dropped by only $2,000.

Whatever. At least my 2013 property tax payment is lower.

Be happy if it dropped. The only thing their numbers effect are the taxes you pay.

One way they determine them is by looking at how much houses in the area sell for.

The reason mine went up is that they're building the rest of my neighborhood, and charging more for those houses.

I thought bcad doesn't have access to that. Non discolsure state. Maybe listing prices but not what they actually sell for.
