Honestly, we should be more concerned with banning pastries than pasties.

I'm surprised that no one has opened up such a facility just outside of the city limits, like the massage parlors did back in the 70's & 80's

Radio story I heard yesterday was saying that the strippers are upset about having to wear ID bracelets as they perform. I don't blame them for wanting to avoid stalkers.

Maybe the city governments around SA will now compete to offer tax incentives to adult-oriented businesses?

Honestly, I would guess it's a NIMBY situation. Any incorporated place they try to go will probably scramble to change its local laws and forbid them. Remember that Boerne's city government recently scrambled to chase away a truck stop along I-10, because of fears it would attract prostitutes!

It's hard for me to understand why the city feels a need to outlaw pasties. It's also difficult for me to understand why they felt a need to require them. If a man can go outdoors without a shirt, a woman should be able to also.

I'm not sure what the supposed link between bare breasts and crime is either.

There is a big misunderstanding of what this ordinance is about. The requirement for pasties (now bikinis) applies only to clubs that are not a designated Sexually Oriented Business (SOB), i.e. bars that are too close to schools, churches, etc. Those places can't have nude or topless dancing, so this ordinance prescribes the minimum amount of clothing required in order for them to operate. Clubs that are an SOB can still have topless dancers. Full nude dancing has been prohibited for several years now, although I think that's still tied-up in litigation.

If it's designed to close a loophole like that, it makes more sense. It would be nice if the news stations were reporting it that way but I guess that's not as interesting as getting quotes from strippers who are "dancing their way through college."
