For those of you that are considering living around downtown or inside 410, but aren't sure what to think about schools, and are being steered to cookie cutter suburbs by realtors that don't know any better, you might be interested in this video.

It's not for everyone, and this video obviously is has a position, but I think it is different enough from what many people think that it might be a useful perspective for some folks considering San Antonio or SAISD. It shows some folks from Rackspace and others.

There are significant portions of areas inside 410 that also are in NEISD, Alamo heights (obviously) and some of Northside too.

smuboy, yes, that's true.

but the first section of that video that talks about realtors who tell their out of town clients that the only options are outside 1604 resonated with me. I have a friend at Fort Sam that told me how many people told him that, only to discover that he was miserable out there and moved closer in.

the point is not just the school district, but that people need to realize that they have other options, and realtors need to realize that they will lose clients if that's the only option they show.

I have yet to see anyone in this forum who was moving to San Antonio, focused on schools and angry because they weren't shown places to live inside 410.

The people who are focused on schools seem willing to make a long commute. Many of them are even willing to put up with the traffic nightmare of Stone Oak.

IMO, SAISD's best hope is all of the new housing going in around the Lower Broadway area. The young professionals moving in there will eventually have children and high expectations for the schools those children go to. Those folks may prefer their new urbanism lifestyle and be unwilling to accept a move to the more suburban areas outside of 410. They'll be the driving force that pushes the schools in those areas to change, not some video that encourages realtors to think inside the loop.
