Do people want to live inside 410 or would they rather live outside 410 and get a bigger lot?

I could be wrong, but from what I've seen inside the 410, when you drive 2 blocks away from any of the rich area's, you are in the slums of San Antonio. There seem's to be only 2 classes, the rich and the poor. I can not afford to live in any of the rich area's inside 410, so I choose to live outside the 1604 where most of the neighborhoods are clean and nice.

If one was to live inside the 410 with a budget of say $150k to $200k for a 3 to 4 bedroom house, where could they find a nice house in a safe and clean neighborhood?

There are several areas inside 410 that are affordable, nice, clean, safe and affordable. None of them are brand new developments and most of the areas appeal to people who like the established neighborhood.
I'm not going to name the areas, I'll forget one or name you you think is a slum and we'll both be in trouble.
The areas are in all parts of the city, North, South, East and West sides.
It's one of the reasons I always advise people who are relocating to SA and able, to rent an apartment or house and learn the city in relation to where they live and work. They may well find an area or house that suites thier needs inside 410.
Twenty years ago there was very very little outside 410. Aside from the very well off neighborhoods, we can't have all been living in slums.

Default I prefer to live outside the loop

I have lived on bith sides of loop 410 and there is more crime inside the loop. With lower income people. I guess you get what you pay for.

Its true about driving 2 blocks or so. I got several duplexs in monte vista and its not too far from poor areas. You are probably right inside 410 either you are rich or poor. I think that the poor areas will regentrify.. its just a matter of time.

Living outside 410 doesn't always mean getting a bigger lot. It all depends on the neighborhood no matter where you live.

I'm less than a mile from the Alamo and have .25 acre. Not huge, but bigger than many of my friends have outside 1604 in the new developments.

I've seen some wonderful places inside 410, very middle income.

Always enjoyed the vibe inside the loop. Closer to work downtown, the river, King William, Alamodome. Plus the signaled stretch of the 281 is not an issue.

I have always thought I'd be more of a city girl, but I've been a suburb girl all my life! My dreams of living in the city as a young adult never happened

We love where we are outside the 1604 loop, but part of me thinks the really cool neighborhoods inside the 410 would be awesome to live in (if I had the money!) I would like for my hubby to have a shorter commute, I would probably also choose private schools for my kids and I would probably enjoy what SA has to offer more often.

But it's not gonna happen, at least at this point in our life!
