Me and my fiance are semi-new to the area, and we are looking for a day care that stays open late in the 78251 or 78254 area near culebra or potranco and 1604. any suggestions?

What do you mean by "stays open late"? Having called several in the area when we moved here a few years ago (we live in 78251), not one stayed open past 6:30-7:00.

There is a LaPetite on Potranco and .... the name slips my mind, but it's just behind the new medical building being built on Potranco just past the storage place and car wash. There is also a Country Home daycare on 1604, north of Potranco. You would need to contact them about their hours though.

around 11ish. I work late and she will be starting a new job soon that requires her to work late hours as well.

Hate to disappoint you, but I really don't believe there are any. Someone started a thread about that a little while back (you sould be able to search it) and it didn't seem like there were many in the city as a whole. I've not seen any in the area that you're looking for at all. Think they all close by 7 (most by 6:30). You'll probably have to look into in-home care.

I was looking in that direction also. I'm new to the area, and don't know much about babysitters or any services like that. any recommendations?

I've never needed to look into it (have always been a stay-at-home mom while mine were little), but I believe there are state registries You might try googling that. Or maybe somebody on here has experience with that to share. Best of luck in your search.

The onliy one I can think of (and it's not really close) is Kidcare on Loop 410. Your best bet, however, would be to find a private individual to be on call for the shifts when you and your fiance work late.

Most families in this city seem to have a parent at home so late night childcare isn't really in demand. This is a shame as it limits the options for the families who DO need it.

Why don't you guys find a moms/parents group through meetup.com so you can meet some other families who might be able to swap childcare with you - or some other private arrangement?

Good luck in your search!

DFPS - Search Texas Child Care

check that site.

There are some that stay open till 3 am...you have to look hard.

I know of one off of nw410 but cant think of the name....check out that site, make sure you choose a center or home that is state registered.

Good luck!
