Yes, we definitely plan on doing that as both my hubby and I rely on the internet for income, so having high-speed options is crucial.

Thanks for giving me some info on additional providers in the area.

$150/mo for an unlimited connection? So essentially, they're raising their prices by more than $100/mo is what this amounts to. Freaking ridiculous. The only reason they're doing this is because they know they can.

Hmm, Earthlink seems to be a valid option to TWC and ATT. Does anyone know of any reasons why switching to Earthlink wouldn't solve the TWC problem?

I'm a life-long cynic (a position that has served me well, BTW). I think there's something more to this whole issue. Yes, broadband providers like Time Warner are looking for ways to increase revenue. But, the RIAA is also aggressively looking for ways to stop illegal downloading. The RIAA has taken aim at downloaders, but has also put plenty of legal pressure on ISP's to take action.

Two birds with one stone for the big boys?

I don't think that's their motivation, and they could care less about the RIAA. They can't go after Time Warner. TW is only in it for self interests here.

Of course, I guess it's a bonus for the RIAA.

TWC could add metering to its wholesale rate that Earthlink pays. Then Earthlink would have to pass those charges along to subscribers. If there are mass defections from Roadrunner to Earthlink, it's reasonable to expect TWC will do that.

I would not be surprised if that was true Hoot Owl, not surprised at all. The RIAA is a million times more evil than even the most evil corporations.

supposedly TWC has decided to postpone this until october - with a roll out for everyone in January.

I would love nothing more than to see very TWC subscriber run like the wind. I hate them and their business practices.

Wow, that sure puts it into perspective. You're absolutely right--basically $110 a month more for what we have now. Um, yeah, there's "STUPID" written all over our foreheads. I'll go without before I pay that kind of money. Sorry for you guys that rely on it for income.......

Congressman Wants to Ban Download Caps

Haha, it'd be great if this goes somewhere. I'd love to see Time Warner crash and burn over this...

Cybersecurity Act would give president power to 'shut down' Internet

Oh...NO-NO-NO... you politicians just can't leave us the h3ll alone can you?!
