Then it should be around 25 minutes as the real time says...who told you 50? Maybe you should slap them.

OK so we'll go by metro...it's still not a small town..and growing exponentially, so there will be growing pains, as evidenced by all of the roadways under construction.
I'm just glad I don't commute.

I honestly don't know, as I don't have a commute...but it doesn't sound beyond the realm of possibility.
When I needed to be at Crownridge at 6:30 in the evening I would leave downtown at about 5:15 to just make sure I made it in time. Yes, traffic is bad. It's not going to take you an hour to get 10 miles in San Antonio, but you will be sitting in certain areas of the city.

Thanks. What drives the growth? Places like Dallas, Atlanta, and Charlotte benefit from corporate relocations. Personally, I think SA is nicer than any of those cities, but it's unclear to me what drives SA's growth, whereas the drivers in those cities is clear.

Not in any particular order:

It's affordable (especially coming from CA and the Northeast)..we get a lot of ex-Californian's here. I've lived there too.
Military
Medical
Still can get a nice piece of land if willing to move a little further out., and still not have a ridiculous commute.
No state income tax
Corporate expansion
Weather (we get lot of people from up North coming in for the weather)
Military retirees...lots of military decide to retire here. This city is very military friendly.
Certain political leanings
Looser gun laws than a lot of places.

As I said before, growing pains come along with this....and I'm sure others have even more reasons that I haven't listed.

I also think a lot of corporate relocations as well. We do not have the headquarters like Atlanta be we have a lot a regional headquarters and regional service centers. My company fills about 20% of the new hires with outside talent now.

S.A. has 6 Fortune 500 and also F 1000 companies headquartered in the metro plus several private major headquarters that would rank amongst the F 500 if they were publically traded.

Default Far Better to be Here by Far,

It is no small wonder you stayed here Pancho. All of these qualities you've listed here for San Antonio, PLUS no snow shoveling? Frank ? People from up north coming down here ?
You don't say?

Talk to the hand. .
