Anyone know any good independently owned tire shops in SA with reasonable prices and good service?

when i lived in california i used to go to 1 shop for all my tire, alignment, etc needs looking for another shop like that. i dont like going to the major chains like discount tire, etc. theyre usually more expensive and takes for EVER to get service. suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

around here, you're not gonna get better service, a better warranty or that much cheaper than discount. sorry. they price match, so if you find one cheaper they'll beat it and get there early. that's about all i can offer.

You can make an appointment online with Discount, and yep, when you arrive, your name is on the appointment board, and you get waited on before the other 20 people in the lobby. It's a no-brainer.

I've been going to Blue Ribbon on West Ave at 410 for years and have been pleased with the service.

Agreed, I started a thread about the outstanding service I've gotten from Discount Tire, and you can see most have had similar experiences.

I don't know how things are in California, but if you are dismissing Discount Tire because of how they operate out there; then you're doing yourself a disservice! Honestly, I am quite surprise to hear such negative stories, as I know folks that use them all over the country and who are as happy with their service as we are. Must be a California thing...

Cheers! M2

I buy my tires from wherever I can get the best deal whether that is locally or online (even bought 4 from eBay once*) and then take them to one of the hole in the wall places to have them mounted. Usually the place on Grissom, by old Tezel that I dont think I have ever known the name of.

*got a steal on a set of that were summer tires from a guy in Minnesota. They came on his Audi and since they fit my Eclipse (at the time) perfectly and we dont get snow, I got a hell of a bargain.

Totally agree with hedgehog mom. Blue Ribbon has great service! I like to support local business vs chains.

If you guys think that discount tire is reasonably priced, then you're paying too much for tires.

The same Falken Ziex 512's I have on my car now from my shop i used to go to in California I just got quoted $606 installed for 4 tires. I got mine for $380 installed. So im looking for a small time local shop that doesnt need to charge the extra money because they have to pay for their big time advertising, etc. The price difference im looking at from what i bought my last set for vs. what discount has them for is obviously HUGE.
