I used to get so ticked off in traffic driving from Culebra to Stone Oak at about 7pm. I'd be hostily upset! Grrr. Then I found books on tape. I'd find myself getting to my location and sitting in the car before I get out so that I could finish the "scene". They can be found on amazon for fairly cheap.

Default What do you do when you're stuck in traffic?

I get right off at the closest exit.

Or:

Never get on in the first place.

Honestly, I don't get stuck in traffic anymore. Now that I-10 is open between 410 and downtown it takes me 15 minutes to get to work and 15 minutes to get home. I don't go below 50 until about half a mile from my exit off 410.

I've been wanting to try books on tape, but thought I might get bored. I'll try one someday soon.

Try to exit so I can take a short cut and pass the traffic!

Audiobooks are the best in conjunction with an mp3 player. That way you don't have to flip tapes or cd's.

I recommend 1984 or the original Dune. The Bill Clinton autobiography read by Bill Clinton is also pretty creepy.

1984 in audiobook is spectacular. Some books were meant to be dictated.

I'll have to give it a try! As long as the reading isn't done in monotone, it will hold my interest...I think.

Thank you for taking the extra time driving home to take care of this in the privacy of your own home! *lmao*

Also do whatever it takes to avoid traffic jams and don't mind using side streets... as long as I am moving I feel like I am making progress. Also listen to NPR or let my mind wonder if there is nothing good on NPR. Rarely get caught in traffic.
