After the storms I need a new roof. Does anyone have any recommendations? Any companies to avoid?

Thanks

Only roofer I'll let touch my roof is Rolands Roofing. I've known the Gonzales family since the 70's. The sign of a good roofer is that he has been around for decades to be there IF there is a warranty issue. Roland and his son always take care of their customers like family. With all of the local damage, expect for it to take a while before they can schedule any work.
Roofers to avoid. Those working out of their truck. Those who need major money up front to buy materials. Those that have not been in business over 20 years. Those who do not have insurance. Those not from San Antonio. Do NOT rely on any information from Angies List as the ratings can be bought by the advertiser.

I live in northeast crossing where it got hit pretty bad and I used Monument Roofing and construction, they do lifetime warranties on labor and materials. I got estimates from little wing, Bexar, Bison, and heritage roofing- Monuments was the best by far, didn't ask for a cent up front and Didn't ask for any money until I'm 100% satisfied with my roof. Overall very professional, prompt and reliable. The person that handled my roof number is 210-802-1486.

If you are going with metal roof, Southwest Metal Roofing Systems did a great job on my house years ago. They did mess up a little bit during the initial installation phase but they were very quick to resolve it.

I called them last week, and they were extremely professional. And busy! Both good signs. I almost don't want to tell anyone. I used Stephens Roofing two years ago, and the roof started leaking after 12-14 months. Unreal.

Do yourself a favor and wait until hail season is over before putting on a new roof.

I've had very mixed experiences with roofers. Finally found one who was excellent - Tony (Power Roofing 210-363-3121) he was able to finally fix a leak that was fixed by others every year (roofers, not just random handymen). Difference being his repair actually worked. I believe he does whole roofs as well.

On the other end of the spectrum was a company called A-Tex.

Exactly the advice I received from my insurance adjustor last week. Granted, I have no leaking issues but he suggested waiting til the fall after all the "here today, gone tomorrow" contractors are gone and the other companies are able to return to their regular, more experienced, crews.

Cloud Roofing has a great reputation. I used them for a new roof for hail storm damage about 9 or 10 years ago and will be using them again this time around. They are local and I found them to be honest and dependable.
