We have definitely decided to relocate to the San Antonio area from Northeast Ohio. We live on 5 beautiful acres with a 1/2 acre pond in a 1500 sf 75 year old home which we renovated inside and out.

We are in our low 40's and call our 3 dogs "family" - kidz long gone! - I've been to San Antonio 2 times but have not visited the surrounding areas. My "online" research keeps taking me to Boerne - it looks perfect for us! - We don't need much house - but want something nice on 5+ acres for $250 - $300.... Secluded and off the road (so dogs can roam safely).

I hate to just say "Boerne is it" - without comparison to other communities - any input as to where to look when we come out for a weekend "intense search" would be most appreciated.

- We're not "people" people - don't care for malls or crowds
- Not necessarily looking for isolation, but don't want neighbors on top of us.
1/2 hour proximity to nice dining, entertainment would be good!
- Husband willing to drive FAR to work (Construction Project Manager)
- Wooded lot would be desired
- "dream home" not necessary - "dream property" is....

Any help??

Thanx so much!
Susan

My parents have 5 acres out in a place called Adkins. I don't think they will be moving there and building their home after all, so maybe they would be willing to sell it. I'd have to ask. From your post you seem to share a lot of the same traits/wants/needs as my parents. Check out Adkins, Floresville, LaVernia, Elmendorf and areas around those towns.

Thanx Twinkle Toes - after your reply, I recalled that Adkins was one of my "wish list" communities. I went to check out some property listings and it looks like some of the same houses are still available that came up in my searches from 6 - 7 months ago. I found this to be true of Boerne and Rio Medina also..... Are houses not moving in these areas? .... That may actually work in our favor as buyers??

Also - we would consider land if it were the right property for us -

Default Boerne is a great community

Boerne is on the high end.
Quality of life, etc.

Boerne vs New Braunfels
