This thread is about early voting sites, and not a place for your political rant. Please post those in an appropriate forum (Election, or P&OC)

When I was early voting here in Austin the elections officials confirmed that there wasn't anyone voting from Williamson county as we were waiting since so many people commute from Williamson into Travis. So, I bet is county specific. Also, I was hearing here that you could go to any place not just your precinct. I'm wondering if that is just a Travis county thing or if that was a recent change. Based on my experience in SA you had to go to your precinct day of the election.

I just learned about that and it IS a Travis County thing. There may be some other counties that let you vote elsewhere on election day, but not Bexar. In Bexar you have to go to your precinct location.

Well heads up to anyone who moved to SA from Austin...I hope they go to their precinct.

I know it is after the fact but there a snippets of truth and one wrong statement in the past few posts.

Voting is state legislated - meaning what holds true in one county holds true in all counties.

Voter registration rolls are maintained at the county level, meaning if you are registered in Bexar, Travis county doesn't know you exist (from a voting perspective).

Early voting allows a voter to vote at any early voting location within their county.

Regular voting can only occur at your assigned precinct polling place.

Thanks to the Travis County Vote Center program, eligible voters are able to vote anywhere they see a Vote Here/Aqui sign in Travis County. Vote Centers make finding a polling place on Election Day easier than ever.

There is so much conflicting information being shared in this thread. It would be easier for us to understand if we limit the information provided about voting places in San Antonio.

Well, as the election is over it's a non-issue until the next election cycle. However, Ashbeigh's point was well taken. Austinites who have moved to San Antonio may not have been aware of the difference in voting location requirements between the two counties. I'd say that's useful information for new San Antonio voters.
