Just like at The Forum, there's a lot more restaurant competition in that area, too. I see a pattern here.

That EZ's was never as crowded as the location at 281 and Bitters, which is a zoo on weeknights. My kids always liked watching the ice cubes travel across the room in the ceiling-mounted tube at the Blanco location.

I had eaten at the Blanco/1604 location many times (although not recently enough to know that it was closed) and it was crowded most times I was there. That is a shame they are gone. I wonder if they will still move to 1604/Stone Oak. The Stone Oak location is better - since you can actually see it from 1604. EZ's is a great place to eat. Hate to see them fall on hard times.

With the economy in a slump - I think we will see more restaurant closings around the city.

Their website only shows 4 SA locations--Basse, DeZavala (or Days of Allah), Bitters, and New Braunfels. And one in Austin.

Wasn't there one on Bandera road just inside 410 that closed a long time ago? We recently ate at the one on 281 & Bitters and to be honest the food was good but it was overpriced. Still, the place was packed (this on a Friday night) and we were there with a group of people; otherwise had it just been us we would've gone somewhere else...

Cheers! M2

Yes - I do think there used to be an EZ's inside 410 on Bandera. I really like their food. I have never had anything that wasn't good there. Too bad about them losing business. I have a $5 token (their version of a gift card) sounds like I should use it soon!

I used to work across the hall from E-Z's corporate office and they were forever opening and closing new restaurants. They did have a location on 410/Bandera, but, apparently, the issue there was poor management. A credible source told me that the corporate office was always late paying bills, to the point of getting shut-off notices from CPS and the phone company. In some instances, robbing Peter to pay Paul. Poor accounting all the way around.

There is an item in today's Express-News (broken link) which says a new EZ's will open soon at the La Arcata Shopping Center at Stone Oak and Loop 1604, just west of Kirby's Steakhouse.

The one on Bandera didn't close that long ago...maybe a year or so. I have a feeling that all the construction along that stretch might have done it in.

Default EZ's closings

EZ’s Brick Oven and Grill was locked out of its 115 N. Loop 1604 East location on Sept. 30 due to a default of the lease agreement and is now closed. Don't know anything else. I do know that the original location on Brees & New Braunfels has much less traffic than it used to. Can't keep that up too long.

Yes, the Brees & NB location is still there, as is the Quarry location. What about the Bitters/281, DeZavala Rd., and Austin locations? Maybe they weren't doing well at the 1604 location?
