Not exactly closing or opening but read that Chris Madrids was sold by the Madrid family to another local restaurant operator who also owns other restaurants in town (I forgot his name). I guess the Madrids wanted out of the restaurant business.

Fingers crossed they don't make a lot of changes. I've at some bad experiences at Paloma Blanca and the food is nothing but average.

New folks take over and think they can cheapen up to make their profits increase. Then the restaurant flops. Happens all the time. We will see.

I also heard at work from a co-worker that eats there frequently that the new owner has plans to open a second location somewhere. Can't confirm if that is true or not.

Expansion is not always a good thing.

The old "Run it into the ground" syndrome. Could turn into a "fail". If it ain't broke it doesn't need fixed.

Maybe the new owner can help them live up to the hype because I just don't get it.

It's a lot of food and people here like that, is all I can figure. I also think it benefits from its location. That part of Blanco Rd. doesn't exactly provide a lot of restaurant competition.

Big'z is the burger place that I don't get. Less burger. Costs more. Long wait to get it. Plus the outside play area attracts the noisiest kids in town. If a Chris Madrid's opened across 1604 from Big'z, I'd be interested to see who'd win that battle.

Plucker's coming to San Antonio in 2018. There wings are pretty good, and the "psychedelic frog" drink is awesome if one hasn't tried it, but expensive.
