Keep forgetting to ask her about the new Potranco store.

Original they were going to open them on the same day but construction got delayed. I just know it's not going to be as large as the other one.
What is Academy going to do with the "old" store?

They were told Staples and Old Navy will split the building with a bank in the parking lot.

Cool! Does anyone know if anything else is coming to the area where Academy is building at Potranco and 1604?

For anyone interested, I noticed today that one of the new buildings in Westover Shopping center (410/151) is a Navy Federal Credit Union!!!

I was driving by the new Academy today, looks like they have their sign up. Under the huge Academy sign (near the road) there were about a dozen or so smaller signs underneath. Any ideas on what is going on? Are there more stores or another strip mall going in near it? Any new news for our area?

Not sure sorry Mojo and not to steal your Mojo but has anyone else seen the ugly office type building in front of Stevens just behind the Valero? These little office buildings look like mini storage units with glass fronts. What the heck can anyone sell/run out of those ugly things? I noticed Wireless Toys moved over to one of the bigger spots, of course leaving an even bigger location across the street.

I'm going to answer my own question. It looks like they are going to build yet ANOTHER strip mall between the academy and the curent Potranco Village strip mall area. Here's a link...

Potranco Village, San Antonio-Barshop & Oles

Also, that Academy is due to open Nov. 2008! That seems like a really long time compared to how far along they are right now. Hmm...

Getting on my soapbox now:
I WISH they would build some stores with substance instead of cash advance places, nail places, pizza places. Alamo Ranch MP is really nice, I wish they would do something like that but with more restaurants or something. It would be a dream to have little unique, independently owned stores. Maybe some boutiques or art type things. A really cool little locally owned coffee shop would be great! Oh! If the library would build over here...I'd be in heaven. Or, a NICE, bookstore...something like Book People in Austin. It will not happen though, guarantee it.

I agree Greed! Those stores by Stevens are UGLY!!! I said that the minute I saw them starting to be built! What is the point? There aren't enough more attractive strip malls in our area for rent? Blah! Always someone trying to make a buck not caring how it will affect an area.

Mojo is off of her soapbox now!

they seem to be migrating Marbach a little north and that's not a good thing at all. I'm very disappointed by how all this worked out for those of us living in the area.

Oh, this has been on my mind for the past month. For the people selling Poodles at the corner, Please, the correct spelling is Poodles, not POODELS!!!! You wonder why people aren't buying them, now you know!!
