True - that's why there's never anything political at the various "I'm SO wonderful!!" award shows they participate it, eh?

Well they can gripe and whine about politics all they want at these shows...(or on twitter)...doesn't actually change anything. Many seem to be low IQ folks with a lot of money.

That's true...they sure act like their opinion is the right one all the time.
What's even worse is the morons across our country that think these people are Gods, and will back whatever they say.

It appears that the myth that San Antonio had to come up with tens of millions of dollars is debunked. It also appears that Phil Hardberger had his hand in this.

If the answer is- No convention RNC or DNC ever, then fine, but etch it in stone. I do not want us in 2024 to decide to make an exception.

No it isn't. The column states that the money is indeed required for hosting, but refutes that it has to come from city funds and states it could be paid by the state and private donors. All of that is beside the point. I don't want the city to have to pay money to ANY organization to host that organization's conventions, period. The precedent is the problem. Whether the funds come from the city, the state or private donors is beside the point.

Please reread my last paragraph. If NO convention, neither RNC nor DNC, then fine. I don't want some group in the future to decide that an exception needs be made.

Political conventions are financially a lose-lose proposition and a big headache regardless! Glad not to have one in the area!

I don't want to slam the door on any and all political conventions. The international exposure is useful and paired with the tourism revenue, it should outweigh the nuisance factor.

Actually, I'll take any political convention that a party wants to hold here, as long as its party spends its own money for the privilege of using our city's facilities. Bring 'em on and tell 'em to bring their own money!

Pure politics.

Look ahead to 2024 and Castro is making a national run. Do you not think the winds and rhetoric will change?

No money spent to attract the convention?

Are we so naive to think that there was not public money spent to host the Final Four or the Alamo Bowl?
