Hello all, We've lived in the DFW area for the past 8 years in the Lucas/Parker area. We will be relocating to San Antonio shortly. I'll be working in zipcode 78218.

What areas in San Antonio are similar to parker or lucas or very close in terms of school quality.

We won't buy a house immediately but would want to rent in an area with good school. We have kids 6 and 8. We would like to build a home within the year. Budget would be from 900K - 1.2M. Would prefer to stay on the lower end.

Any thought is appreciated!

Try a search of the forum to get an idea of the more pricey areas of the city. With that budget I'd start in the Alamo Heights or Dominion area. Both are great areas. I'm trying to remember what the Parker area of Dallas is with my limited experience about 15 years ago, but am drawing a blank. Someone will chime in with comparable areas.

If you could describe the Lucas/Parker area, more of us might be able to help. Is it a close-in area with stately older homes, or the outer suburbs with houses on 5-acre lots?

SO it's outter suburbs with 5 acre lots? Then the Dominion and similar areas would be a good fit.

Well. It's the suburb, with 1+ acre lots. Not anywhere close to 5. One of the best ISDs within DFW. It's in Collin county

There are great districts within Bexar county, where San Antonio is located. The Dominion feeds into one of those, Northside ISD. Shavano Park may also be a match. If you want to be outside of SA proper then Boerne and Fair Oaks would be good choices. But, of course, that all depends on how you want your commute to be.

Definitely outside 1604. Boerne ISD is a great recommendation. Maybe Bulverde, Spring Branch, anywhere within Comal ISD would be a good equivalent.

Really?! NEISD and NISD are amazing districts. Alamo Heights, in town is always highly ranked. OP did not mention commute time or if they wanted to be as far away from Dallas as Collin County is to the center of the metro.
