Did you reach out to Buddy Holly to see if airplane travel was safe, too? Anecdotal examples are meaningless.

Data shows that woven cloth provides virtually no filtration. If your mask has a pretty design on it, it is useless at best. Surgical masks are designed for one-time short-term use. Not intended to be worn one for more than a few hours or more than one day,

Mask mandates are for show, even in the strictest most locked-down blue city/state. Not one mask mandate out there specifies criteria for establish what is a qualified and effective mask or requires use of an "effective" mask.

Default Big Deal,

I wear a particle mask (96% effective) so all of your nonsense (fact) does not apply to me, at all. The surgical mask provides better than nothing, protection. I would not say they were worthless. They have certainly worked for Southeast Asians. Particularly South Koreans.
There is one Forum member here that got sick when he wore a mask all of the time. Senor Pancho Villa, our former resident of New York. They are certainly not foolproof and I do not think anyone ever maintained this.
Mostly these are best for the prevention of the exhalation of droplets into the air. (Fact) Now we are going into the flu season. I have never gotten a flu shot but am considering it this year for the first time ever. Not a foolproof method, again, but then again data shows the Vaccine for Corona will not be 100% effective either. (fact)
People who in (fact) are carriers in fact spread the disease and do not know this fact.

Here's a fact. If you don't have covid you can't spread covid. And if the people you're with don't have covid you can't catch covid from them. The select political rallies have tested everyone attending. Unlike all the protests.

Straw man argument. Planes were mostly safe and the risk was minimal for Buddy Holly to fly. Going into a crowded indoor rally with screaming morons not wearing masks is not a good idea for now. And yeah there were well documented spikes after his rally’s.

Perhaps the better question is why are we getting beyond screwed by this pandemic and countries like Taiwan and South Korea got it in check? Frankly, it’s because our country is full of selfish nitwits who crap all over science. They didn’t whine about it when it was mandated they wear masks, they just did it. We raise hell about it because we really don’t care about anyone other than ourselves and we attack science when they actually try to save lives because of our selfishness.

Default Great Post,

Put it all in a nutshell why don't you? This election year might become a disease pandemic all its' own with people running amuck in the streets in all directions. With diseases as yet unknown, watch your step at your local polling place. Emotions bottled up and caused by the pandemic may burst forth like a Champagne cork.
Particularly if you see; Potentially screaming morons whom look as though they might believe realistically in Electioneering Slogans. These really believe this, "stuff". Really.
I am urging my kids to potentially be the first volunteers for the Space Force.

In this day people will defy scientific data if it behooves a political end. Clorox notwithstanding. Strangely enough. This election might very well be the most important one in a very long time.
We live in a strange democracy right now. Unbelievably so. Still, a democracy.

Default Deep concern for WilGar,

The good news this morning is that we should all wear masks , right? It is worth a try? I hope the President and his beautiful wife will be fine and wish him well, of course. God Speed to him.

I find it interesting that the negatives about my mask posts was pursued but no one had anything to say about the 13,000 plus tattle tells that the mayor encouraged.

Default Concerning the Epidemic!

Do you wear a mask at work, at all Wil ? Ever? This is quite interesting, if not. so. Concerning the 13,000 number.
I suppose people do not care about the 13,000 tattle tales so no one is commenting on it. There are currently 40,000 cases of the Corona virus occurring daily now in the U.S. with no progress being made, I heard on NPR today.
It is awful to merely type this statistic. It is surrealistic, like a Halloween prank gone bad.

No, I do not wear a mask at work.

Out of the 16,000 employees in our companies, less that 100 have tested positive, positivity rate of .006. Only two were hospitalized for a short period and both recovered, a rate of .000125. One was obese, with diabetes and cancer.
For six trillion in debt and countless non COVID lives lost. I live by the facts.

Default Playing the Odds,

Whether or not you live by the facts is debatable but I will never question your decision Wil. Those are pretty good statistics I would estimate. At least far more people live, than die from this disease.
I would disagree in that you do not live by the facts. Two hundred thousand dead aren't a statistic?
Two hundred thousand more are estimated by years end?
How about when you go out to the store or church. You do not wear a mask anyplace? At all? Ever?
You are playing with fire, Buddy.
These are Casino Odds for winning, Wil. You can win though.
