I recently moved to this area and cross Babcock Rd + Hausman Rd intersection several times a day. In two months I have seen 6+ accidents on this intersection and in all instances I have noticed the exact same type of collision: one vehicle's front right has collided with other's front-left. I dont know what is causing this; is SAPD paying any attention to this? If I can see the pattern they should too and fix the problem.

This intersection sucks big time by the way. 12 - 15 minutes just to get through it during rush hour. Hausman and Babcock Rd need to be two lane here at this intersection.

One of the causes may be inexperienced drivers--lots of UTSA students! Also, there are just a lot of vehicles trying to get through there in the mornings, on their way to 10, Valero, or UTSA.

Interestingly accidents are not during the rush hours. Only one of 6 I noticed during evening rush hour.

My gut feeling is that this stop light is not consistant and causes this. You cannot always assume traffic is going one way since it does not open left arrow always. 90% of the time left arrow opens when it is time for green (so no one can come from your left if traffic is going from right to left in front of you (or vice versa)).

But sometimes sensors on these lights dont open an arrow and traffic comes from both sides. Probably that's causing this since drivers assume they dont have to look the other way (and signals behave like this when there is no traffic I have noticed).

You are right, UTSA is definitely a reason. I saw Nissan Z350 in the ditch the other night with a student surrounded by cops; I was glad to see him alive otherwise he landed like 7-8 feet deep breaking metal fence just across babcok light on hausman going north into the water passage.

the city has about 1.6 million+ people and only about 10 of them know how to drive... that and everyone here seems to be surgically attached to their cell phone

Their cell phone either talking on it.. or (gasp) texting on it.. I think that is the most dumbest thing I have ever seen. I mean when you see a woman fixing her make up and driving with her elbows that is stupid... but to see them actually looking down .. while driving 55 and texting.. no wonder we have so many dang accidents...

I have been to that intersection plenty and that whole area need to be redone. They are all two lane roads that have been modified it's just a mess. But not as bad as De Zavala yet.
