10 or so years ago, there was this restaurant called Krystal Burger that had a few branches here in San Antonio. I remember going to the one on Loop 410 across from Ingram Park Mall every day back in '07-'08 with my cousin, who went to Holmes High School at the time and knew how to drive. A couple years later, Krystal shut down and a taqueria moved in. There's another taqueria up Culebra that is in a building that used to be a Krystal. Is Krystal dead in SA, or is there one lone survivor like Carl's Jr?

A search on the Krystal Burger website showed no locations in the state of Texas.

Their sales dropped and they decided to cut their losses and packed up and left Texas.

I assume you're talking about the Krystal founded in Chattanooga and currently based out of Atlanta. Houston used to have one or two back when I was at A&M from 2010 to 2014. Fast forward 3 years and Krystal was gone.

Don't get me wrong, I love Krystal. But I'm from Atlanta and grew up eating it. I doubt Krystal was ever able to compete and really get inserted in the local market. Even in Atlanta it seems much more of legacy than a truly popular option. It's ultimately a very regional cultural icon.

I don't remember seeing it, but I am not a burger person. However, it still exists on menu listing with an address and phone #

That listing is out of date. The Krystal Burger building is now a Mexican restaurant (Los Balitos).

Too much competition. Texans prefer Whataburger.

Unfortunately they didn't last here. I'm from Georgia and love Krystals. I could eat 10 of them in one sitting growing up.

I remember when it opened and the Alamo Ranch crew that was around at the time went nuts for it. So much so there was a thread on it- //www.city-data.com/forum/san-a...hlight=Krystal
