TexHwyMan, to add to that, Helotes has a new progressive and pro-business Mayor and Council so that will help in Helotes growth.

acire - views, yes! I forgot to mention views were a necessity. We are coming from flat, flat, flat farmland with no trees. No view aside from your neighbor's grill or at night - their television! LOL Sounds like both places have the view.

Boerne is more of a self-contained small town (cute downtown, revered high school) that isn't that far from either the Hill Country or San Antonio. Helotes, while pleasant, is more of an extension of the city.

I agree, Helotes is much smaller than Boerne and is more like a suburb of SA.

As such, if you don't have to commute to SA, I would rather live there (Boerne) than Helotes; but if you do have to commute (like I do), 'Lotes is a nice area!

That's why we live there!

Cheers! M2

Boerne is overrated, stuck up little town. Helotes is best bet for the money, view and fun

Maybe compare taxes, that seems to be a big deciding factor for many people, especially when you’re looking at an expensive home. Helotes still gets hit with San Antonio School taxes, I don’t know if Boerne does.

Don't the Census fool ya POPULATION - 4,285 (U.S. Census 2000) <<< THIS IS SO WRONG, out of date. There has been a lot of new homes, rapid development and growth in Helotes over the past 3-5 years. It sure feels like the population has doubled since 2000 (but we won’t know until the next Census in 2010

I don't they realize that a lot of the growth has not been in the city limits of Helotes.
