Hubby stopped by the other night and he commented about the prices as well. We had expected them to be outrageous so not really a shocker. He liked the store though, particularly the meat section. The wife of his coworker apparently went and received free groceries!! Anyone else?

What they need is for the bakery to either remain open later, or produce more breads for the "after-work" crowd. This is the second time that I have stopped in (around 5pm), and there was an abundance of (stale) baguettes, but no french bread. Only one rotisserie chicken, too.

I loved the bulk cookie barrels!! $2.69 per pound.
I hope this place succeeds for Stone Oak but I really don't see myself stopping in for "real" groceries only because I don't know what I'd get there yet. Specialty markets have to be REALLY good at something - in most cases, the produce, bakery or meat, right? I thought Green Fields would be more like a market we had back in Michigan: www.westbornmarket.com. I didn't get a "specialty" vibe at Green Fields, may be because it is new but it seems like there is too much of a selection, a few of everything like when a menu at a restaurant is 10 pages. The produce, bakery & meat sections should be ANCHORS of the store and instead, they come off as "after thoughts" with too much of a focus on the personal health & wellness selection (3 aisles?)
The "make your own cereal" counter was cute. Haven't seen that before. Cool.
I do hope they figure out who they want to be soon! I hope it does well.

This is a very similar layout to Sun Harvest, which the Wolffs also created...it's a personal preference of theirs.

All in all, I like GFM, and I'm sure they will strike to best balance on pricing and product mix soon...

According to earlier posters, they're quite high.

You should go there and see for yourself. People have different opinions on what too expensive is.
