Ummm.... I was told that it regularly snows in SA during the winter time.

Is this correct?

I'd say this is true, typically every year you see some type of flurry, especially in the Hill Country. Does it stick? Rarely. Your kids can't go out and make a Snowman, at least I've never seen it. Maybe someone who lives in the Hill country can give you a better answer.

An IceMan would be your best bet for SA.

This throws a huge wrench into a possible move to SA.

I moved from Indiana to Florida to get away from the white stuff. And I don't want to be cold. Not for too long anyway. Sure I love throwing on the leather jacket, but how cold does it get in SA?

And how much ice are we talking about?

You may get some flurries, but they don't stick. I think it snows every winter up in the big hills (around Enchanted Rock).

Correct? No.

Maybe once every 3-4 years we get flurries that melt before they hit the ground but even that is nothing.

It's more likely to snow in the far hill country than San Antonio.

Typically the ice lasts for no more then 2 days. It's not bad at all, I promise. Unless it's a freak occurrence which I haven't seen yet.

It was icy this year - kept the kids out of school. I wasn't able to leave the house for several days either because I couldn't get out of my driveway! But since I'm not a native Texan and haven't been here very long, I can't say that it's always like this. But this is what is was like this year.

Yes, the ice was bad this year. Probably the worst its been ina very long time.

For two days the city was shut down.

However, that was a rare thing, there are years when nothing happens, then there are years when we get ice.

In middle school, we had an ice day (like a snow day) in 6th grade. We then had an ice day in 7th grade. This past winter was the first time we had a ice day in SA since those middle school years (1996/1997).

So some 10 years past before schools had to shut down because of the cold weather.

Just stay away from DFW if you don't want snow. It snows here every year at least once, if not more. People don't know how to drive, so the freeways get shut down (or no one uses them). School gets canceled, though.

Never in all of my seven years living in San Antonio ('94-'01) do I ever remember snow
