Living in Del Rio, Eagle Pass is like NYC. It has a Kohl's, Fuddruckers, AND a Taco Bell. You may not think that's a big deal, but I have driven 45 minutes each way just for Taco Bell.

Sure, $24,000 is a lot of money, but once you have spent it all (probably on tacos), you will look around and think to yourself "Really?"

If you have hospital skills, there are plenty of better opportunities out there...

I'd drive 45 minutes to AVOID going to a Taco Hell

It is nowhere near New Mexico-its 142 miles southwest of San Antonio across the river from Piedras Negras, Mexico.

I questioned that yesterday, too....checked google maps and I think EP is about 70 miles closer to Las Cruces. weird. Still not that much closer and definitely doesn't make it tolerable, to me.

I believe the bonus is taxable so you'll only actually get a check for around 2/3 or 3/4 of the $20K - just in case you were making plans for the full amount. I'm basing this on an incident years ago where a new co-worker was disappointed at not receiving the full bonus amount. Can someone else verify/validate this?

Its defintely taxed usually at the time of issue. The tax rate is something like 28%.

I have a good friend who is a border patrol agent and lived there for several years. He hated it. He spent all his money on video games and DVDs cause there was nothing to do.
