Again, gotta agree with FCF. If your problem is this bad, then you need professional help!

There are a lot of good exterminators out there, we use Apple Pest out of Helotes and are happy with them.

If you need help finding one, got to Yellow Pages Local Directory - YELLOWPAGES.COM and type in 'exterminator' and your zip code.

Cheers! M2

UGH! I hate ants in the house! Ants and roaches! We don't have a roach problem (thank goodness!) but ants seem to be a constant battle. We have an exterminator that keeps them under control, unless you want to pay more for specialized treatments, which we did when the carpenter ants invaded, but not for the little brown ones. (Our exterminator comes out every 3 mos and charges $45, but we have been with him a long time. Don't know what others charge.)

You can find some ecofriendly ideas here - I googled this because you mentioned having a 7 yr old in the house, and you may have pets, too.

Ant Pest Control: Natural Ant Killer

This site has some good ideas that may help out. I had forgotten about Diatomaceous earth. I know it works with other bugs, like roaches and slugs and such, but I didn't realize it worked on ants, too. You can find it in the garden section and I don' think it's that expensive. I don't think it harms pets, etc. either. I think a 25 lb box of it costs about $15-20, depending on where you go.

Boric acid is another one, but you have to be careful where you put it if you have pets and young ones around. I've used it in the kitchen where the ants sneak in by the window sills and against the countertop/wall where they sneak in by the electrical sockets.

Also, check the isle at Lowes/Home Depot for insecticides that take the substance back to the nest. Sapphire suggested Green Light, which has good products. Amdro always worked on the fire ants, but I've never tried it for the house ants.....

Good luck and good riddance to those pests in the house!!

Yes, we have the little black high speed ones now. They clean up as you work in the kitchen. They're not afraid to come out while you're there. Although ants are very prolific right now , I think you can whip them.

Default Ants Ants Ants need help and Suggestions on the inside and outside

Hi, I posted before about a bad ant problem that I have. I really am struggling financially and it would be difficult to pay a exterminator. I think we have pharoh ants or acrobatic ants by doing my research I am trying the terro and have many many eating it they eat come back gone for about a day then return to eating in the morning what should I do? Any other suggestions. I believe they may be in the walls because I see them coming out of a crack down under my sink that we will calk but me and my husband were trying to see if they will die with the bait stations first. Does terro work for most of you and if so how long becuse it seems like the ants are feasting on it for days and coming back. What can I do? Should I press on and get a exterminator even though this will be difficult financially. Also who is one that is recommended I am in San Antonio Bexar County area near 90 and 1604 maybe they can get in the walls some how to treat this nusiance.
