Hopefully, this becomes extremely popular here. I saw their ad in the Current this week, and I sure hope a lot of people will spend the extra money up front to take advantage of the service.

Call Judy - (210) 400-7756 - San Antonio, TX - We'll Get You & Your Car Home.

dunno why the link says "call Judy!" LOL it's call Jundy!

For those who may have missed the edict: bad driver stories are off limits in the SA forum right now. Please DO NOT post your stories about encounters with drunk drivers. Thanks.

Other types of replies are fine.

I honestly doubt many people will use this. I remember this one time, at band camp....just kidding Bowie.

Sorry, whereas I applaud anyone intending to keep drunks off the road; this is purely business.

A pick up fee $30, plus $2 per mile based on GPS? Forget it, for that much I will either have a designated driver or make other arrangements to get home safely.

Plus, there is no indication whether they are bonded or not. What happens when one of these "professional drivers" wrecks your car? (I assume they drive your car home for you, with you in it). I see they require you to have insurance, I guess they expect you to cover them insurance-wise!

Last, but not least, I hate scare tactics in advertising!

Cheers! M2

Did you want them to offer it for free?

No need to get your panties all wadded up. If you don't want/need their service, don't use it. Get one of your friends to taxi you around, assuming you have some, of course!

I'd pay a LOT if my kids were involved....and yes, they are of legal drinking age.

Scare tactics can save a life. BTW - it's TEXAS law to have auto insurance. They would be breaking law to drive a car without it. It's called good business sense to require it!

WHY does every post with a positive spin bring the out the skeptics?

If I thought the mods would allow it, I'd start a "biggest whiner, cry baby, complainer, skeptic, etc etc" thread. But out of respect for this forum I won't.

Otherwise, I hope this service is successful. Every good intention deserves a chance.

Exactly. They are marketing to the business professional....not the sloppy falling-down drunk. This is for the people who plan a night out, know they are going to be drinking and if pulled over, wouldn't be able to "get out of it". I don't get the whole negativity thing either. Anything that keeps anyone from drinking and driving is worth it, IMO.

Go ahead and delete/lock the thread. It's ridamdiculous that everything has to turn into a pissing contest around here.

In Europe, particularly in Germany people solve the problem hiring a taxi cab with two drivers... you drive in a one cab home, and behind you the second cab driver is driving your car to your home. Simple as that. You pay double fare, but I am sure that's much cheaper than $30 + $ per mile.
Their regular insurance cover any car they drive ( I guess, that apply here too - your insurance cover any car you drive included rent a car). No?
