We will be in New Braunfels first week of June. We plan on going to Schlitterbahn two days and tubing one day. What are my chances of seeing the beautiful wildflowers? I would like to take some scenic drives. Can anyone suggest any from New Braunfels?

I'm no botanist, but I don't think there are many wildflowers still around in June. Bluebonnets usually pop up in April or so and are only around for a month at best. All the rest seem to have the same schedule.

As far as scenic drives from New Braunfels, I'd head out 306 to Purgatory Rd, then take Ranch Road 12 to Wimberly. If you want better scenery, you'll have to go further north or west, but we're talking a couple hours or so.

I would suggest River Rd from near Gruene towards Canyon Lake as it snakes along the Guadalupe.

Thanks for the suggestions. Yes I do plan on checking out Gruene. I think we will try eating at the Gristmill Restaurant. I also want to drive over to Rileys Tavern in Hunter. It is Texas' first after prohibition beer joint.

I will have to try that next time, I usually go to the Gruene River Grill by habit.

I took this this fall there.

How about guided horseback trail rides? Looking for a good one in the hill country with pretty scenery.
