DirecTV, for me, has had little to no rate hike in the past two years: I'm only paying about $2 more than I did when I first signed up. That's likely thanks to rebates and things I've found to keep my bill low.

If DTV goes up a bit more, I'll understand: They just launched a new sat and it'll add about 200 new HD channels in the next few months. I can handle that

If TWC added 20-30 new HD channels, I wouldn't harp on them so much, but they don't. It's always a famine offering with them and now that they're locking people into contract, I'm even less inclined to do business with them knowing how they treat people.

Do you not have a contract with them? What about the $400 in gift cards? I'm still cancelling altogether.....the TV has been on a whopping hour and a half this week. I am not even going to do the math to see what it cost me to watch 3 reruns.

If your bill is going up, you need to call TW and see if your 2 year price lock is over. If so, they'll begin to raise your bill. You can lock it back in but that will basically mean you are stuck with TW for two years from that point.

OR....Switch to Dish Network.

I'm just back from browsing the TWC website and here's what strikes me as funny. Bear with me while I work through this one:

Why the hell are they offering gift-cards to get people to subscribe to their service? That's a diversionary tactic, basically saying 'please use our sub-par, overpriced service and we'll reward you with plastic somewhere else.' Meanwhile, you're stuck with TWC for a year or more. Wouldn't it make better sense to try being competitive with AT&T, Dish and DTV, offering the same kind/quality of product, rather than side-step the issue with gift cards? It reminds me of steakhouses that serve sub-par beef, but then offer you a dozen sauces to douse it with (likely covering the taste of the crappy cattle). Just another form of covering up the real problem and never actually fixing it.

In reading through this thread, it seems that some here have been lured into the gift card promo and are now regretting it.
