Here we go again. Bill went up $34 for no reason whatsoever. I have been in the area for two years so maybe that is the reason.

You may have had one of the premium pay channels on a free special and now they are billing you for it. They are notorious for doing that on anniversaries.

Same thing happened to us a few years ago...then a few months later it went up another $10, then a couple months later another $15. When it reached $180 (no change in service, no premium channels added, etc) my husband finally got off his butt and called (because it's in his name, TWC won't talk to me even though I have POA) and got it lowered back down (which is almost half of what they raised us to) to the price they were offering at the time for new subscribers.

It appears to be their habit - ease the price up gradually until you notice and raise hobb, then lower it and try it all over again....

If there was even a CLOSE alternative, we'd be SO far "done" with them!

Premium channels on cable tv are facing competition with services such as Netflix and Amazon's new streaming media.

Our solution was to get Netflix and drop any movie channels we had. We use Netflix streaming and by-mail DVD services and have really enjoyed it. Only $9.73 a month including taxes.

A while back, TW was metering residential broadband limits in select markets, proposing usage caps at some threshold. Enacting such usage caps would place many broadband users who utilize services such as Netflix streaming, into expensive overages. Those gigabytes add up pretty quick these days.

So far, broadband providers such as TW have been fairly quiet about usage caps but I would be willing to bet if streaming media takes a substantial chunk of their existing cable tv customer base, they'll look to recoup the profits in other ways.

it seems the talk of usage caps keeps coming around. tw would hopefully be hard pressed to make the caps more than generous. my wife and i have a friend staying with us right now, that makes two laptops, a desktop, three smartphones on the home network, an xbox, and my blu-ray. granted most dont run at the same time but in a larger family they all could. id be broke in a week, and switching to clear.

If they do that, I'm going to have to dump them. I have 3 radio stations that are streaming 24/7 here so I can monitor them whenever I need to.

Usage caps are BS. If they'd bother investing back into their network to increase capacity instead of pocketing most of the profits (as pretty much every provider in the country is doing), there'd be no talk of caps. But it's all about the money - if they artificially decrease the supply they stand to make a ton of money because there's no competition. hillcountrywinefan is right, TW will make up their lost profits from their cable services through overcharging broadband.

I was a TW customer for about 8 years. When I purchased my new house I finally switched over to ATT Uverse. All I have to say is WOW!!! They are awesome! When I brose through the guide it works real time, none of the lag time that TW had. I have internet, all the boxes are HD capable, you do not have to get a different box for HD, and I also have one DVR box. All the boxes can record, or watch shows that have been recorded on another box, but you have to get the DVR box to rewind live TV. I also have ALL the channels including NFL network and NFL Red Zone(an amazing channel to watch on Sundays), all the movie channels. HD on demand for premium channels! I do not have all those crazy international channels. This is a special promo and when it ends my bill will go back up from 140 to 180, but I will remove TMC and ShowTime which will deduct about 24 dollars. Either way that is a lot cheaper than TW for what I used to pay. The service was great! I have about three friends that have already switched because they saw how awesome it was. IMO TW has some brain wash on people, insisting that they are far superior to any other service. I was missing out for years and I hope you guys don’t miss out any longer. BTW I don’t work for AT&T. I am just a former TW customer trying to show current TW customers the light, because I was in the dark for so long!
